3D Printed Character #2

Hello! More work has been done on my scifi space girl. I am very excited to share my updates! So let's get started.

So far, Here is where I am on the sculpt. I am now working on those smaller details as I get ready to move forward to pose her in her final pose. I want to get as much of the details done as possible so that when I pose her, I just have to focus on the cleanup and final polishing phase.

I am doing a lot of work inside of maya as I resurface the separate pieces of the character model to work nicely for when I eventually get this statue printed. Mainly, I have to make sure that all the pieces close together nicely. I cannot have any open holes when I go to 3D print, otherwise that's only going to cause a headache sown the line. Here is an example of how things look inside of Maya...

I am making sure that the topology is clean on the hard surface objects, like the jetpack and helmet pieces. I also want to check to be sure that all of the pieces clip together to make it air-tight. I also am going to wait till I have my character in her final pose before deciding where I want to cut her up and place registration keys. For now, I am finishing the design of the jet pack. It will probably look much different than what you see above, as that is just a cool placeholder rocket booster.

Lets check out some more process pics!

For her outfit, I am thinking that she can be wearing a tight spandex with armor underneath the fabric, much like that of a football uniform. Able to provide enough protection without weighing our character down. She needs to be able to move quickly and gracefully, much like Black Widow would perhaps.

I look forward to posing this character and seeing her in action with her sword and flying with her jetpack! The next time I post a blog, I plan to have her posed out and ready for the final polishing stage. So far she is in a bunch of pieces, but not for long!

More updates are going to be coming in the future as I narrow down on the final look and pose of our character. Until next time!
